Let them give thanks to the Lord
for His faithful love
and His wonderful works for all humanity. Psalm 107:15
Thanksgiving Day in the United States is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. And that’s a good thing, however, for a Believer thanksgiving should be everyday. Like today’s verse says, if for nothing else but just because how much He loves us.
Thanksgiving has become the beginning of the Holiday Season and what better way to start it than to have a thankful and grateful heart. For it’s in being thankful that we open ourselves up to receive. The more grateful we are for everything, even the not so good things, the more we realize how much God is even in the small details of our lives. Only He can make everything work out for out benefit. It’s a wonderful time to thank Him for the past year and His kindness and goodness throughout our lives.
Beginning tomorrow will begin preparing for Christmas and living in the present. Every day there is something new to do to as we celebrate the birth of our Savior and Lord. It’s a time that the world seems to be making an adjustment. Although there is a lot of hustle and bustle, there is a softness and almost slowing down to take notice of things often missed. People seem to be more kind and even open to the Gospel. And by Christmas Eve people who never go to church show up and are touched by Holy Spirit to remember the birth that changed the world forever.
Soon after Christmas comes New Year when we look towards the future and the unknown. But when we look into the future with Jesus being our guide, we can go forward into the new year with confidence that whatever we encounter we don’t have to do it alone. And we once again are giving Him thanks for His Holy Spirit that is living in us. This truly is the season of the supernatural, that never ends for those who walk in the Light of Jesus. And that is something to be truly thankful for.
