Don’t drink too much wine, for many evils lie along that path; be filled instead with the Holy Spirit and controlled by him. Ephesians 5:18 TLB
Labor Day was the last day for the Allentown Fair and for parking cars on our church lot that is near by. But like always, God used the everyday to teach some important lessons. It was a really slow start the first two days. We can park 109 cars on the lot and on the opening day we only parked 17 cars and the same on the second. Some of it may have been a thunderstorm threat, but it also was the changes in Grandstand Shows that usually drew larger crowds.
Some were quite concerned and wondering what we were going to do if things didn’t get better, because this is the only form of financial outreach we do mainly because it is a great form of community outreach. I told everyone, if Jesus can feed 15,000-20,000 with five loaves and two small fish, He surely can multiply the people coming to park. And you know what He did!
Our both best days were days when the lot was never filled, but rather we turned over cars that kept coming and going. As I thought about that Holy Spirit reminded me that that’s how we should see Him. Not just Him living in us as a onetime thing, instead to remember as we share Jesus with others, and live for Him there will be times we need to have Him fill us more with all He is and need. As we draw from His presence and power we prosper in every way.
If we look, we can see God moving all around us, that He truly is in everything. Take time today to slow down and consider what He is trying to teach you in our everyday experiences. Ask Holy Spirit to help you recall verses that help you see Jesus better and deepen your relationship with Him and consequently with others.
