Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Hebrews 2:14
I became aware yesterday that although I scheduled this to be posted on Saturday April 19, it never was. But I truly believe when things like this happen, God has a reason. Perhaps it’s because someone needs to read this today instead of last Saturday, but God’s messages are always timeless.
Jesus in His suffering and dying on the cross gave God the perfect and acceptable sacrifice as payment for mankind’s sin once and for all. And all those who accept Jesus, now are reunited with our Father in spirit never to be separated from Him again.
Many Bible scholars believe that Jesus went into Hell to take back the keys to Hell, death and the grave from Satan to remind him he has been defeated once and for all on this day which is alluded to several places in Scriptures. Whether He did or not is not as important as knowing in His death He won the victory over the powerful hold sin had on mankind. It is always good to remember that sin no longer has dominion over those who placed their lives in Christ Jesus for He has given us our dominion back over the enemy.
Visualizing Jesus taking back the keys of dominion that the enemy took from Adam and Eve in the Garden is a great way to remind us Jesus who now lives within us is greater than the one who tried to take it away from us. And now Satan is a defeated foe and the only power he has over us is what we give him. Colossians 2:15 tells us Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them at the cross. Hallelujah, we have been set free!
Jesus made the way for us to take back our dominion over sin. Romans 6:14 tells us that sin shall no longer have dominion over us, because we are no longer under the law, but under grace. So the next time the enemy wants to remind you of any sin, you can remind him you are no longer under the law, but you live in, by and through the grace of Jesus Christ and let him know you have taken your dominion over him back!
