“Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10 NASB
When we hear and talk about revival and awakening, we often think we need to make things happen. And things do have to happen, but not by human effort but by Holy Spirit moving and fanning into flame those smoldering embers of love and service.
I love the word “cease” which means discontinue. When we continue striving to make something happen, we’re really not listening to and getting to know God and His ways. How can we effectively be His ambassadors if we don’t know the heart of who we’re representing. When we show people the true heart of God through His Son Jesus, hearts will be softened, and be prepared to receive the Word and transformed lives will be seen.
I know it’s difficult to discontinue our busyness, but when we do and purposefully enter into the presence of the Lord, it will not only be beneficial to us, but to everyone who we encounter to share Jesus with. So take time every day to spend some time with Jesus so you can become more and more like Him so we can show others who He truly is.
