Now you understand that I have imparted to you all my authority to trample over his kingdom. You will trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will be able to harm you as you walk in this authority. Luke 10:19 TPT
I grew up in a time that exercising was just becoming something every one should do. One of my favorite times in gym class in elementary school was Go You Chicken Fat Go time (the official song of President Kennedy’s Council on Physical Fitness). Let me explain, Mr. Gutekunst (our gym teacher) would put a record on the brown, standard school record player and the song would begin with a march time intro and soon you’d hear, “Push ups every morning, 10 times! Not just now and then. Give that chicken fat back to the chicken and don’t be chicken again, No don’t be chicken again!” I actually found the song on You Tube, so you can listen to it. Anyway, there is a point to this, when we don’t exercise physically, we flabby, lethargic, weak because our muscles begin to atrophy. We have learned that one of the best exercises is just walking purposefully.
It’s the same way with us spiritually. We have been given many mighty weapons against our spiritual enemy Satan. The greatest one is our authority given to us through Jesus. But many Believers don’t know how much authority we’ve been given. So when the enemy comes at us appearing to be bigger than he truly is, we turn and run rather than stand strong and let God battle for us in our authority! Look at today’s verse, Jesus tells us He has given us ALL His authority over the enemy with overcoming power! And No Thing will be able to harm us! But notice what we have to do, we have to walk in it (exercise). The Greek word for authority here is “exousia“, where we get our English word exercise. It’s time to get our spiritual “Chicken Fat” going and walk daily in our God given authority over ALL that comes against us because we walk in the victory of Jesus Christ! Remember, if you have been given authority and don’t use it properly, then you are no better off than the person who doesn’t have it! Now go for a walk in Jesus!
