In the same way, let your light shine so others can see it. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will bring glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 NIRV
Last week was the Allentown Fair and since our church is located a block and a half away, it opened up another outreach opportunity for us. Every year we park cars and because they are blessing us with their patronage, it gives us a chance to bless others with a portion of our proceeds. This year it is Bloom House of the Lehigh Valley, a ministry who helps rescue women from human trafficking and find healing.
When we’d park a car we’d give them a bottle opener shaped like a skeleton key. We would let them know that because of their patronage, they were now a key part in stopping human trafficking. Every time they would use it, they could remember they helped someone regain their freedom and life back.
can’t tell you how positive the response was. People would tell us to keep the change, or just hand us extra money for the “good work” we were doing or because we were the cheapest parking and still helping such a worthy cause. We even had a few times to pray with people who just needed a touch from Jesus.
Looking back on the week all we did was provide a service for the Community which enabled us to shine the Light of Jesus on the hideous practice of human trafficking and how we all can be a part to help to not only stop it, but help its victims heal, begin a new life in Christ and fresh start to truly living. Where can you shine your light and make a difference in someone’s life?
