“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. . . Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14,16 MSG
I love the true account Jonathan Cahn tells about a missions trip in Guatemala. When they arrived at their hotel and checked in something just didn’t seem right. They soon found out why, the hotel was a house of prostitution. Panic insued, what were they going to do, surely they couldn’t stay there. But Jonathan felt led to do something much different, not only were they going to stay, but they began anointing the place. They began to pray and worship, then, in the midst of their worship and praise, a woman began to join them and she received Jesus. Soon others were joining and coming into a relationship with Jesus. The man who was running the place one day began to weep in repentance, He received Jesus and was gloriously changed. By the time they left people werewaving Bibles and weeping!
What would have happened if they would have turned and run from the darkness, instead of shinning their lights in it? God always gives more than we can imagine, so it wouldn’t have been just the people they met with that would have missed out on making Jesus their personal Lord and Savior, I’m willing to bet all those transformed, led at least one other person to a relationship with Jesus. Jesus told us we are now the light of the world not to run away from the darkness, but shine in it! If you have the Light of Jesus living inside you, then shine, baby shine!
