And He said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14
Feelings are wonderful, they are gifts from God after all. Perhaps that’s why the enemy loves to use them against us so much. If he can keep us feeling, he can control and manipulate us, make us believe we’re victims, that we have no choices, we’re just pawns on the giant chess board of life. After all, if you don’t feel something, than it isn’t real, right? Wrong!!! Feelings can be fickle, deceiving and false, especially when it comes to spiritual things.
David who wasn’t afraid to tell it like it was, or exactly how he felt and that’s because He believed God. Just like in today’s verse God promised His presence would always go with us and knowing that will give us rest. Maybe that’s why he could write, “where can I go from Your presence?” God said it, so why do we question it when we don’t sense it? Simply put it’s because we put our feelings before our trust in God. I know that hit hard, but it’s the truth.
Let us remember that He is always with us even when we don’t sense Him and that we can call on His name and He will make Himself known at a moments notice. So when you’re having one of those days, weeks, or months and you’re not sure He’s there, then just call out His name and revival of His presence will be made known. Maybe not in a bombastic, overwhelming and spectacular way, instead it may be in a still small voice or just that feeling of peace knowing you’re not alone. Revival comes in many different ways and forms, but wherever there is revival, there is His Spirit.
