God’s splendor is a tale that is told;
his testament is written in the stars.
Space itself speaks his story every day
through the marvels of the heavens.
His truth is on tour in the starry vault of the sky,
showing his skill in creation’s craftsmanship. Psalm 19:1 TPT
This steamy summer has produced it’s share of thunder storms, but last night nature’s fireworks were extraordinary. Prior to the storm hitting, there was about half an hour of a dark sky lit up by lightening, no rumble of thunder, just lightening letting us know a storm was coming. The wind began to pick up and the leaves on the trees turned upright (something my grandfather taught me was a sign that rain was coming). Soon after, rumbles of thunder could be heard, the lightening became more intense and then the rumble turned into a bang. The rain started to fall, but the wind was blowing it in horizontal sheets across the fields. the sky lit up with lightening strikes, one after another, the crashes of thunder became more frequent. As I stood at the window and watched, I couldn’t help but praise God for His awesomeness. The power of water, wind, lightening and the sound of its power seemed to say I Am in control, there is nothing I can’t do. As destructive as all these things are they can be harnessed to bring about much good. I had to cry out How Great You Are oh Lord my God! In a moment, the wind stopped, the rain ceased and the lightening and thunder were once again in the distance. The skies cleared and the stars and moon began to shine.
I thought about what just happened in relation to what has been happening all around us over the past few months. It was almost like God was saying, see me in the upheaval and shaking, know I have it under control, and when it has accomplished it’s purposes, it will pass and all will see Me and know of my glory that I Am God. He is with us in these storms we are experiencing, but those who walk with Him will come shinning through.
