But we continue to preach because we have the same kind of faith the psalmist had when he said, “I believed in God, so I spoke.” 2 Corinthians 4:13 NLT
A Pastor’s wife slowly lost her eyesight even though they were praying and believing that it would not happen. And even though she was declared legally blind, she kept believing and kept going to healing services, but her sight kept deteriorating. Until one night a visiting Pastor was praying for healing with people after the service.
After he had prayed for everyone, he went over to her and asked why she had not come forward for healing prayer. She explained to him, she was discouraged after praying and going to healing services for years yielded nothing. He told her he had a strong leading to pray with her, and although reluctant, she agreed for him to pray. After he prayed like so many others, he said to her now what do you see? And she began to open her eyes, but he quickly said “close your eyes.” So she closed her eyes, and again he said “now what do you see?” Once again she began to open her eyes and again, he said, “close them.” This happened two more times.
He prayed for her one more time, after Amen, he said now keep your eyes closed and tell me what you see? Describe what you are seeing in your heart and mind. She began to describe walking in the park. When she was finished, he then said, “Now open your eyes and tell me what you see.” She opened her eyes and her sight had returned and she could see clearly. So what was the difference? He wanted her to visualize and picture what she wanted to see in her spirit before she could see in the natural. But isn’t that what our faith is all about? Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see, Hebrews 11:1.
Now all healings are different and you may think she was healed instantly, but remember she had been praying for years, it wasn’t until she saw herself seeing and called it out loud that she finally saw. What do you want to see in your life? Can you visualize it in your spirit? Do you speak it out into existence? This isn’t a formula, praying, seeing and saying are all ways of telling Jesus you believe in Him to accomplish all He died to give us. And there is no better way show Him our grateful hearts.
