Lord, you know everything there is to know about me.
You perceive every movement of my heart and soul,
and you understand my every thought before it even enters my mind.
You are so intimately aware of me, Lord.
You read my heart like an open book
and you know all the words I’m about to speak
before I even start a sentence!
You know every step I will take before my journey even begins.
God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart.
Examine me through and through;
find out everything that may be hidden within me.
Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares.
See if there is any path of pain I’m walking on,
and lead me back to your glorious, everlasting ways—
the path that brings me back to you. Psalm 139:1-4, 23-24 TPT
On Friday night at sundown The Feast of Trumpets began, better known as the Ten Days of Awe, the days of reflection and repentance to draw us back to God.
Gypsy Smith who preached in the 1800’s saw revival follow wherever he preached. One day someone asked him what it takes for revival to break out. He told the person to go home, draw a circle around themselves, fall on their knees in humility and ask God to search their heart, repent from what needs to change and start a revival in their heart. True change begins in the heart of single person when they ask God to show them what to change and then change it.
How does revival start? By following today’s passage. Begin by knowing who God truly is, especially in relation to ourselves. Then to ask the Lord Himself to not only search us, but reveal to us all the things in our lives that hinder us from knowing Him better and seeing and carrying out His will because we’re so focused on ourselves and what we want. But everything that we are searching for can only be found in the person of Jesus Christ because all things are not only given by Him, but in Him!
If you truly want to see change in our circumstances, our lives, our families, our churches, our communities, our nation. Then ask God to change you first by His transforming power and allow Him to live through Him. BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE AND DO IT THROUGH JESUS!
