Break open your word within me until revelation-light shines out!
Those with open hearts are given insight into your plans. Psalm 119:130
When I was a kid, I had a teacher that used to say “make sure you crack open those books tonight!” At that moment in time I thought, what a goof! But every time I read this verse, I think about the wisdom of his words. We had the books with the information, but even if we “cracked open” the books and never read them, they wouldn’t do us any good.
But this verse takes it even one step farther to remind me that even if I read the information, but really didn’t learn the information, further down the road it wouldn’t do me any good either. Why? Because I knew it for the moment so I could pass the test, after the test I dismissed it because I wouldn’t need it anymore. Come on, be honest, how many of us have said I rememeber hearing that, I wished I would have listened better.
This verse gives us that same advice, but in spiritual context. Notice it says break open the word within. That means the information is inside us, but the potential for it to beneficial for us only comes when we break it open to use it. Once we have “seen the light” then we need to open ourselves up to follow what it says, so we can truly learn how to live.
Today, maybe you feel you’re in the dark and don’t know what to do. Break open the word of God for whatever you are dealing with, then open yourself up to truly learn its rich wisdom and let it lead and direct your life.
