Now, because of you, Lord, I will lie down in peace and sleep comes at once, for no matter what happens, I will live unafraid! Psalm 4:8
I hear more and more from people that they are tired of the mind numbing amount of contradictory and angry information we get in a day. Someone said they just wanted to not hear anything for one day. My response was you can, just don’t watch and listen. Although that may sound like an easy solution, it really isn’t because how many of us know that our minds replay what we hear and see, especially the negative. So what should we do?
Eastern meditation works by emptying your mind. Now although that sounds good, it leaves an opening for the enemy to work even more. Today’s verse encourages us to focus on the Lord, filling our minds with His Word. Think about all the ways He has answered your prayers and met your needs. How you have felt His presence in the midst of a crisis or storm. As you do these things you will find your mind becoming calm and a peace that is causing rest in every area of your being. Once you fall asleep your mind will truly rest, because it’s filled with thoughts of Jesus and all He is.
Take a break from all the chatter and give your mind a true rest and find the restoration that only God can give through His word.
