“The Lord will fight for you while you [only need to] keep silent and remain calm.” Exodus 14:14 AMP
I’m sure you noticed yesterday there was no devotion, the devotional page was silent. It was to make a point about this new year 2021 or on the Hebrew calendar, 5781. Last year 5780 was the year of the mouth and Declaring the Word of the Lord and almost immediately there was opposition. By March we were in a lockdown and if we had to go out in public we had to have our mouths covered! What was amazing is that the very thing that was to hinder the declaration, made it become even more broacasted through the internet and television because people were fearful, confused and angry and were looking for reassurance, stability, comfort and peace.
This year 5781 means teeth, putting a bite into the declaring, but not the way you think. By putting a bite into our declarations of the Word, is learning to know when to be silent. How appropriate is that, since it seems there is way too much talking. Everyone has an opinion, there are so many things being said that are opposites, no one knows who to believe. Confusion and deception are rampant and out of control. The world is longing for stability and wisdom, and not the wisdom of the world, because we can see where that has gotten us. This year, Believers are being called to measure their words, consider not only what they are saying, but when and how it is being said. The number one, that replaces the zero, is silent or silence. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us our words are so powerful, so much so they will either kill or give life. And the person speaking them will reap the consequences of which ones they choose to use. Which should be a frightening thought especially when coupled with Proverbs 15:4 that reminds us speaking the truth is life giving, but lying and deceitful words, hurt and destroy.
I like to talk with people, but I have to admit studying out the meaning of this year, has me truly believing that I talk way to much! I’m find myself now considering and weighing my words and if what I am about to say will be profitable, or cause more confusion and division. Since Jesus is our wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:24), listening to Holy Spirit this year will be of utmost importance so the world will see the difference between God’s wisdom and the world’s. Tomorrow we will be looking at what all the numbers mean to help us discern what we will see in the year ahead and how we can better be God’s Ambassadors and light in this darkness we’re seeing.
