Praying in the Spirit

Pray in the Spirit at all times with all kinds of prayers, asking for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready and never give up. Always pray for all God’s people. Eph 6:18

One of the most powerful and loving gifts Jesus gave to us through His Salvation is the ability to converse with Him Spirit to spirit. This gift has been so mistaught and represented to the point that some say if you don’t speak in tongues then you’re not truly saved. Others make it something mystical that you can’t control, still others try to force it on a person. But the truth is, because it’s given by Holy Spirit He will only enable this gift if the person is ready to accept it. As Believers, we already have a special connection with Jesus in prayer, but this deepens our prayers on another level and probably the reason why the enemy tries everything he can to keep us from praying in the Spirit.

Between the scriptures from yesterday and today, it is clear that this is something the Lord wants us to engage in to deepen our relationship with Him and build ourselves up in Him. So since Holy Spirit knows us better than we know ourselves, ask Him to enable this gift in you as you are in prayer. You may not experience it immediately, but as your seeking this gift, He is preparing you. When He knows you’re ready, you will be able to begin to communicate with Him in a way you may not understand at first, but you will experience peace, a refreshing that will lift your burdens, a joy that makes things lighter and brighter. You also will begin to understand Scripture better. receive answers to your questions and hear Him clearer as He leads and directs you. This truly is a wonderful gift that yes, it builds us up, but not for just ourselves, but so that we can help others to be built up in the Lord also. I encourage every Believer to seek the enablement of this gift as it will help you not only grow in wisdom and the things of the Lord, but to also glorify and honor Him.
