“Rise up and shine, for your light has come. The shining-greatness of the Lord has risen upon you. Isaiah 60:1 NLV
Today we are experiencing the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. Today we will have only 9 hours and 16 minutes of daylight. But from this point on our daylight hours will begin to lengthen. But in the darkness we can always find a light somewhere.
The same can be said spiritually. This world has had times of greater darkness than at others. And no matter how dark it has morally and spiritually gotten, the true Light of this world has always shone.
When Jesus walked this earth He said He came to be the Light to the world, but when He left He passed the torch on to those who have accepted His gift of salvation and told us that now we are the light of the world and we are supposed to shine the greatest in the darkness.
Are you being a light to people today? Although Christmas is all about lights, many people are experiencing a darkness that even the brightest Christmas light can’t dispel. But the light we carry will pierce any darkness, fear, anxiety, depression, sadness, loss, loneliness and the list goes on. Ask yourself who you can be a light to and bring light of hope to those who need to see the true glory of the Lord this Christmas.
