I will go away but I will give you a gift of peace. It is mine to give and yours to keep. It is not like a gift that this world gives. Do not let yourselves be sad. Do not be afraid. John 14:27 EASY
Yesterday I saw a story on the 700 Club about a woman who not only taught Yoga but made it her life. What caught my attention was when she said “In the new age world, you’re your own healer, that meant you were responsible for everything. And if you make sure you do all these things, these practices, these rituals, these mantras (words to meditate on) in the right kind of way then everything was going to be alright. And if they weren’t that meant you weren’t doing enough. Does any of that sound familiar to anyone else?
But she began to be bored with the level she was teaching and went to a higher more spiritual level. But instead of finding fulfillment she found resentment and anger. Then she heard that there were allegations of manipulation, control and abuse about her personal teacher. It began to make her wonder what she had gotten herself into. So she moved to South Carolina with a prayer, to find a woman who would introduce her to a community of friends. And he answered her prayer where when they met, they read the Bible. She was honest and said she never read the Bible or knew about Jesus. But she kept an open mind and didn’t leave when she was stressing on the inside. So she decided to read the Bible and as she did, things began to change. Then one day she accepted Jesus as her Savior and Lord and she found and experienced the peace she was always looking for.
The truth is no one can buy or earn the kind of peace Jesus gives us. As a matter of fact in today’s verse it tells us it’s not like the kind of peace that the world gives. The only way to experience His perfect peace is to receive it by accepting His sacrifice of love and forgiveness and then remember that as you walk in the Spirit because Jesus paid it all now and forever.
