Two people are better than one.
They can help each other in everything they do. Ecclesiastes 4:9
The other day I was asked to speak a friend’s funeral who passed away unexpectedly. He was a many faceted man. He loved playing practical jokes and teasing with people. He enjoyed playing competitive games and took them very seriously like he was trying to win an Olympic Medal. At times he would seem aloof and unconcerned about things. This is how he wanted people to see him.
But he also was a good friend, when someone needed help he would show up to help you out with something. Or he would take the time to help you through times of trouble or crisis. He would give things away because he knew someone liked it. He loved sharing a meal and good conversation. One day he helped us with an electrical problem at the church that really could have turned into a disaster. When I hugged him and thanked him I asked said, you are so good to us. And his response was, “that’s because God has been so good to me.” He understood that we truly are blessed to be a blessing.
He touched and blessed all our lives in different ways and now it was our chance to carry on his legacy and continue to pass on the blessings. I encouraged everyone that in the days ahead when they would think of him and smile, they should find someone to bless, even if it’s just to pass that smile on, because when we do we help each other in ways we couldn’t even imagine.
