You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others. 2 Timothy 2:2 NLT
Going along with the importance of one theme, we had another confirmation of the power of one. Tuesday a woman stopped by to drop off her 54 Shoeboxes. She said it would have been closer to use the drop off in Whitehall, but Evangel Fellowship held special meaning to her. It was where her journey with Jesus began.
See she lived in the country and a neighbor (a member of EFC) and her sister (also a member) invited her to come to Pioneer Girls (sort of a Christian Girl Scouts). She accepted the invitation and enjoyed coming, but as she said, she didn’t really see the need to accept Jesus as her Savior and Lord. Then at the age of 16 after being a rebellious teenager, she made Jesus her Savior and Lord. She truly believes it was because of the seeds planted while in Pioneer Girls and the prayers of her Pioneer Pal, the older woman who was paired to come along side of her.
However it wasn’t until her early ’20’s that she began to grow and develop in her relationship with Jesus. Now, after all these years, she’s serving the Lord in her church, and packing 54 boxes to send to kids around the world the message that Jesus loves them. She also raised her children to walk with the Lord and now one of them works in Young Life Ministries.
The beauty with Operation Christmas Child is that the children get the Christmas boxes to enjoy, but it is very common to hear that the enitre family enters into a relationship with Jesus all because of that one box. And it all began with a simple invitation to come to a weekly church meeting for young girls to learn Activities of Daily Living and about Jesus’ love.
I don’t know about you, but my heart is so encouraged! Like she said before she left, “I guess we’ll never fully know the impact we have on others until we get to heaven.” How true that is, and it should give us even more of a reason to reach out to one person at a time and tell them about Jesus. Then never forget to be excited about what joys await us when we get to know all the people that we’ll spend eternity with all because we were willing to talk with just one person.
