For your glorious righteousness reaches up to the high heavens.
No one could ever be compared to you!
Who is your equal, O God of marvels and wonders? Psalm 71:19
I was amazed the other day that how quickly Tropical Storm Isaias literally blew out of the area. From torrential wind driven rain to rain ceasing, winds calmed, clouds breaking, blue skies and sun shinning in about fifteen minutes! By the time the sun was setting there was a beautiful sunset, with beautiful hues of blues, pink, gold and orange which were reflected in the white puffy clouds.
I couldn’t help but think of the worship song that asked the question, Who is like You O Lord? Painter of the skies, Maker of the seas. Who is like You O Lord to save a sinner like me? God is so amazing and faithful, even when we maybe couldn’t see or feel Him in the midst of the storm, but He was there; as much as He was there when we saw Him in a sunset. Just like we didn’t doubt that the sun was still shinning somewhere else during the storm just because we didn’t see it; God is with us in the good times and especially in the bad. Truth is because of our emotions He may just be harder to see and feel.
That night as I went to bed I couldn’t help but thank Him for His protection. I prayed that He would send His children to help and comfort those who experienced loss during the storm, and show the heart of Jesus to them. To be with all the workers who are working overtime to restore power, first responders and anyone who’s helping with the cleanup. It really helped me think about how many times we take His presence for granted and how selfish our prayers can become. So the next time you’re in a storm, literal of figurtive, remember He is with you through it and He will be with you on the other side. After all He preomised, I will never leave you, nor forsake(turn My heart away from you) you (Hebrews 13:5).
