Sometimes I feel like I’m in an actual war and dodging “virtual arrows”. You know those arrows of offense, criticism, judgment, jealousy, hate, anger from others that are hurled by enemy himself. The only way we can come through some days unscathed is by using the shield of faith of Jesus Christ. Remember it is in His faith we stand in victory, not ours, Psalm 28:7 says He is our Sword and Shield. When I learned that the Roman leather shield was soaked in water before battle, it made even more sense that it would extinguish fiery arrows. So we need to soak ourselves in the Word of God.
I love the way The Passion Translation says we need to embrace everything salvation is and offers, not just a one way ticket to heaven! the Greek word it is soterio which is a wholeness word that includes provision, protection, health, safety and preservation. When we put it on, it protects our minds not only from lies, but everything that the enemy tries to get us to think about and distract us from Jesus who takes all those negative thoughts and defeats and destroys them. Praise God that we don’t have to do battle with our own weaponry and His can never be defeated.
