“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. Jeremiah 23:5
As Prophet Jesus represents His Father to His people. As Priest, He represents His people to the Father. And as king, He has authority over all things, including all people, both saved and unsaved.
When Jesus was born into this world He gave us a foretaste of what it will be like when He will come again and set up His kingdom here on earth.
The Gospels tell us that Jesus came to serve, not be served. He was an example of a wise leader whose wisdom was beyond the wisdom of this world. He was just in all His dealings and showed us what true justice is no matter the circumstances. There was righteousness in the land simply because He was here. For righteousness is God’s covenant relationship with those who accept His Son as a gift . They have received His righteousness and wear it as a robe. Not something we have to work for by doing good things.
While we are waiting for that perfect life, we need to be Jesus’ representatives here on earth, walking in His wisdom, dealing justly with issues and showing others His righteousness so they too will want to experience His salvation.
