28 They replied, “We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?” 29 Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the One he has sent.” John 6:28-29
So many Believers wonder why if they have Holy Spirit and His power within them why they can’t do things like Jesus did when He walked this earth. The answer can be found in these two verses. All we have to do is Believe in the One whom God has sent, His Son Jesus.
No performing, no trying, no earning, no working, just believing with all our hearts that God is Who He says He is and does what He says He will do. And that He sent His Son to show us how He can work through those who trust in Him.
But to be honest, it’s sometimes more difficult to only believe than to follow rules and rituals. That’s because in order to trust and believe means we need to rely on and listen to Holy Spirit to lead guide and direct us. It’s nothing of us on our own, but rather everything is dependent upon our relationship with Jesus and what He has accomplished for us in His death and resurrection. And as we believe, we will see Holy Spirit move in ways that will help others see the awesomeness of our Abba Father.
