Lord, lead me as you promised me you would; otherwise my enemies will conquer me. Tell me clearly what to do, which way to turn. Psalm 5:8
Sunday late afternoon I witnessed an amazing sight. The Snow Geese that have been around our area, chose to rest in the field adjacent to my property. I actually heard them before I saw them. And they were joined by Canadian Geese in their descent to the partially snow covered corn fields, it was an awesome sight.
But the amazing thing was they landed in the field across the road. They all landed except one Snow Goose and One Canadian Goose, that circled for a bit, then seemed to disappear in the clear blue sky. Soon the honking began again and another flock was coming into sight. But this time, they led the flock to the field next to mine. Again two or three circled and disappeared, and again another flock came back with them, but this time, they took them to the other field, and so it went on humdreds maybe even thousands came and each time they landed in the alternate field. As the sun began to set, the pink from the sunset lit on the flying Snow Geese against a twilight sky. It was truly a sight to behold.
I couldn’t help but think how awesome is our God, that He would place inside Geese a compass that would give people hope. They know Spring is coming with warmer weather and they need to get back north close to the artic where the weather remains cold, just the way they like it. Us on the other hand are more than ready to welcome the warmer weather Spring brings, and with each honk and fluttering wing they are telling us it is coming. The beautiful sunset that reflected off their wings reminded me that we are a reflection of Jesus to this world that needs hope and the warmth of God’s love.
How much does God love us, to remind us that Spring and the warmer weather is coming after a snowy, cold winter on the wings of Geese? Then sign it with a beautiful sunset, that reminds us He always keeps His promises. If we take the time to slow down and look, God is all around us speaking to us without words I love you, come spend time with Me. How can we not accept such a beautiful request?
