I will provide for their needs before they ask,
and I will help them while they are still asking for help. Isaiah 65:24
The other day once again the weather forecast was wrong. Early afternoon it was supposed to start as snow and quickly turn over to rain since the temperature was supposed to be in the high thirties. And although the temperature was quite a bit above freezing the snow became sleet, then snow again, then a fine drizzle and by that time the temperature was dropping as the sun was setting.
Although the streets were just wet, the little bit of accumulation was a slushy mess. The question then was, to shovel before it freezes or not to shovel. As I thought about it and truly didn’t know what to do, I prayed “Abba, it’s your property”, and before I could say any more the answer came, “if you shovel it will be sheer ice, if you let it go there will be some traction and the sun will shine tomorrow.” So I said, “ok Lord, I know you’re taking care of it” and He did.
I went into church early to check out how the sidewalks were. And the majority not only were clear but dry! I was able to salt the other places quickly and by the time I left church, the sun had melted everything and the wind was drying it off. God is so good and faithful. Yet too often we not only do we not take Him at His word, but we don’t even talk with Him or pray about the issue. I saw the truth of today’s verse in action. He truly does know what we need before we ask and even more awesome is He is answering that need while we’re still asking. Next time you’re not sure if He’s listening or cares, remember this and let your faith in Him grow and then look for His answer with great expectation!
