The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him. Psalm 28:7
Rain, rain go away, come again some other day we used to sing as kids when it rained for days. I found myself singing that song even though we officially are still in a drought. But I have this hope (the confident expectation of good) that tomorrow the sky will be blue and the sun will shine again. Why? Because at sunset, I actually saw the image of the sun shine through the clouds for a brief time.
Even though for days we couldn’t see it, for a brief moment we were reminded it was still there shinning somewhere and once again it would shine again. The rain and the clouds also meant a coming end to the drought we are in so even the current weather shows that confident expectation of good, the end of the drought.
So whether it’s raining or the sun is shinning our hearts can leap for joy and we can praise the Lord, because we are reminded that we can have a confident expectation of good because our hope is the Lord, not our situations or circumstances, but that when we see Jesus as our all in all, we know the sun will shine again.
