We look away from the natural realm and we fasten our gaze onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection. Hebrews 12:2a
In 1941 the Japanese Ambassador came to Washington D.C. in what was perceived to be a visit to seek peace. As he met with our hopeful government leaders, his leaders in the Japanese Empire were launching an attack on Pearl Harbor. He was sent here as a distraction, to keep our government and leaders caught up in issues that meant nothing and were pointless. It was a deception that kept us focused on the wrong thing, as a matter of fact it produced the exact opposite result.
The enemy does the same thing to us in our relationship with Jesus. Most of us know the frustration of wanting to spend time in His presence and pray, yet we find ourselves thinking of everything but. It’s amazing how the enemy can pull things out of seemingly thin air and get us totally focused on something that was at the very least insignificant. And like any good deceiver gets us to accomplish the exact opposite of what we set out to do. When he is successful at it enough times we become disappointed and discouraged and the next thing you know we’re not even trying anymore.
Here’s what we need to hold onto. Spending time with the Lord and prayer are really vital to developing our realtionship with Jesus, that’s why the enemy so wants us not to achieve that. So don’t give up, use some new battle plans. Take a tablet and pencil with you, when he reminds you of something, say thank you for reminding me and write it down. Then go back to meeting with the Lord. No matter how many times he tries to distract you, just keep coming back to your original mission, your time with the Lord. It may take a few times, but you’ll soon frustrate him and he’ll leave you alone for a “more opportune time”(Luke 4:13) like he did with Jesus. Remember James 4:7 Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you!
