So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:15-20 NLT
It’s no secret that we’re living in a chaotic, messed up world and the enemy uses all forms of media, technology and anything else he can to make it look like make it look like we’re losing and losing big time. And here’s the clincher that we often forget, he’s not promoting those things for the world, he already has them decieved. No, he’s doing it to keep Believers feeling discouraged and hopeless. And for the most part, he’s doing a bang up job.
So what are we supposed to do? Look past the front page and dig a bit deeper and when you do you will see that Jesus is working in amazing ways. Droves of people are wanting to be baptized in public places, pop-up praises are breaking out at Walmart, Malls and just about anywhere. Enitre Communities are taking to the streets to take them back in the name of Jesus. So why don’t we hear more about them? Because of the damage they would do to his plan to destroy this world and keep more people from accepting Jesus as their Savior and Lord. We need to tell him his intimidation tactics aren’t working anymore and we’re not afraid of him.
One of the most beautiful ways this is happening is in the Olympic Village in Paris. Every morning the Olympians, Coaches and all who are there, are awakened by the beautiful worship songs of their fellow athletes from Fiji. That’s correct. Every day the representatives from Fiji meet in a courtyard to begin the day with worship and prayer. And what is the response from those hearing it? They love it! Some have even said how much they are going to miss it when the games are over. This should help us be encouraged to know the power of the Word even when it’s sung. It makes you wonder how many lives were forever changed, becuase a small beautiful island decided to make a big statement and make Jesus known. No excuses, no hiding, just worshipping
So I challenge you to stop listening to the world and listen to Paul in today’s passage, make the most of every opportunity to make Him known. Consider what kind of an influence you can have on others in His name. Allow Holy Spirit to overflow from you and bless others. And always be thankful for being a representative of His to an ever darkening world. Now go out and be the light that can never be extinquished and the salt to make people thirsty for the Word and show them the real spice of life, Jesus Christ.
