All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or the slightest hint of change. James 1:17 NET
Today we’re going to have fun with numbers. What that makes it even more fun is that I’m mathematically challenged, but I find this to be challenging in a different way. You will need a pencil and paper and not matter how many times you follow the six steps you will always get the same answer. So are you ready for some fun?
- Pick any three digit number, making sure the first digit is larger than the last. (example, 975)
- Then reverse the number you picked. (579)
- Subtract the smaller number (579) from the larger (975). If with the numbers you use, your calculations leave you with a two-digit number (example 99) add a zero to the beginning of the number (099).
- Take the answer from step three, 975-579= 396 and reverse it 693.
- Add the answer from step 3 together with 396 and its reverse 693
- You will always end up with the number 1089
We love to do things like this because they are intriguing. And although we don’t understand how, it always works out the same. According to our verse today, it’s the same is with God and us. No matter how we may see ourselves as failing or falling short, God’s love and blessing don’t change towards us. I don’t know about you, but that’s quite the relief for to know He doesn’t love us any less or withhold any good thing from us no matter what we do, say or act! That’s because Jesus paid for all our shortcomings and sins at the cross. And remembering that should cause us to want to live a life of thanksgiving and gratefulness for all He has done for us. Now that’s a way to begin a great weekend!
