Watch closely: I am preparing something new; it’s happening now, even as I speak,
and you’re about to see it. I am preparing a way through the desert;
Waters will flow where there had been none. Isaiah 43:19 VOICE
How many of us have felt like we’ve failed at something and we think it’s over and done? I think it’s safe to say that 99.9% of us have felt like that at some time in our lives. But sometimes, our failures turn out to be a blessed set back that when we least expect it, it becomes a set up for something greater than we ever could imagine.
I don’t know how I began getting a daily e-mail called History Facts, but I love learning these real life occurrences that impacted or changed history. I read one about all the every day things we use that were invented during WWII. I was surprised to learn that super glue was invented then, but they didn’t realize it until 1951! Eastman Kodak Company was trying to develop clear plastic gunsights. Out of their research the team invented a compound called cyanoacrylate. And though it was incredibly durable, it also was incredibly sticky and no matter how they changed it, it remained sticky, so they scraped it.
Well, that was until Harry Coover a member of the original research team felt the need to return to researching the compound. However, this time nine years later, the same team began to see the amazing potential in it. And what was that potential? It’s what we now call Super Glue. That which was scraped because it couldn’t be used to make plastic gunsights, we created by accident to fulfil another purpose. And that purpose has served so many people well to mend broken things with a strong bond.
We so often believe that if we fail at something, or it doesn’t work out as planned, it’s over and done. But just like cyanoacrylate, might not have been good to make gunsights, when the time was right, it was brought back to the forefront. And the time was right to introduce super glue to us and we’ve been using it ever since. What dreams or plans haven’t worked out for you and you thought they were over and done? Perhaps Holy Spirit is nudging you to revisit it, because now the time is right for it to become a reality. Listen to His leading, communicate with Him, for He will enable you to accomplish it. Now, may be the right time for you to reach a new potential that will lead others into a relationship with Jesus.
