Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up. 1 Cor. 13:7
When we hear the word love, our minds usually go to someplace romantic. We picture romantic movies, card, pictures, etc. that the world tells us love is. But in the spiritual realm it’s so much deeper than our minds naturally want to go. When we read or hear 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 usually at weddings, we think, how true. But think about how difficult it truly is to love someone like God intended us to.
It begins with love is patient and kind, it is not jealous or proud, doesn’t brag, get upset with others or count up wrongs. Ok, how many of us pass the “love” test? Come on be honest, no one! Because humanly we can’t truly love others without the empowerment of Holy Spirit and then it still isn’t easy. We need to be intentional about showing love to others, especially those who rub us the wrong way or have hurt us. But Holy Spirit helps us achieve the impossible and follow Jesus’ teaching that we are to love one another as He has loved us (John 13:34).
I love the Passion Translation of the last part of the “Love Passage” which is so appropriate to consider in the times we are living in. Pray and ask Holy Spirit to help you would be a safe place of shelter that never stops believing the best for others and that although at times love may fail, it never can be defeated because it never gives up! Love always wins!
