Now stay focused on Jesus, who designed and perfected our faith. He endured the cross and ignored the shame of that death because He focused on the joy that was set before Him; and now He is seated beside God on the throne, a place of honor. Hebrews 12:2
Have you ever had a song stuck in you head? The past few mornings it is, Give Me Jesus. ironically it’s first words are, “in the morning when I rise, just give me Jesus.” Honestly it’s a great way not only to start the day, but to stay focused on Jesus through out the day. And these days we truly need Him 24/7/365!
Look what at what Jesus focused on during the darkest hours of His life here on earth. He’s enduring a great emotional struggle thinking about what He was about to experience, a brutal beating, a cat of nine tails whipping and being nailed to a cross. Yet what He focused on, was what all of it was going to accomplish and that He would soon be sitting at the right hand of His Father. And according to Nehemiah 8:10 Jesus now is our joy and strength. Perhaps we should look at our times of darkness and trouble and see the joy He did and be strengthened. It certainly worked for Jesus, so why wouldn’t it work for us, since “as He is, so are we in this world.
