The Light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it. John 1:5
Yesterday evening was a blaring reality that life can change in an instant. Our divided Nation is now in a state of shock and disbelief that a political event could turn into a tragedy that brought wounding and death. To say most Americans are in shock and saddened is an understatement. Confusion and mixed emotions are at an all time high. Hope for things to get better seems to be slipping away quickly wondering when is this insanity all going to end. Our hearts go out to the families that have been affected forever by another persons decision to take matters into his own hands.
But today’s verse reminds us that in all of this darkness there is a Light that nothing can extinguish. Children of the Most High God, that light now shines through you. This is an opportunity for us to be Jesus to this dark and dying world. Instead of just quoting scriptures let’s start living them out, be quick to listen and slow to speak, get rid of our anger and treat one another as we want to be treated. Loving and praying for those who mistreat you, just like Jesus did. Just like Joseph when he had the opportunity to get back at his brothers, but instead said, “that which was meant for evil, God meant for good for the salvation of many”!
Our Nation has endured four Presidential assassination’s and six attempts on sitting or former Presidents and each time it has shaken our Political climate to change and become more bipartisan and civil. May we pray that once again that we will cooperate with the Lord and not only turn that which was meant for evil into good, but also see that through it many will come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord.
