And I will do [I Myself will grant] whatever you ask in My Name [as [a]presenting all that I Am], so that the Father may be glorified andextolled in (through) the Son. [Yes] I will grant [I Myself will do for you] whatever you shall ask in My Name [as [b]presenting all that I Am] John 14:13-14
On Wednesday nights we have been studying the Names and Titles of Jesus to learn who Jesus truly is to us. This verse in John jumped out at me when I saw “as representing all that I AM”. Do we really know all that Jesus represents when we pray, then claim and rest in His name? The answer for most people is no. Many Christians can’t even list the seven Great I AM’s of Jesus.
These names aren’t all inclusive of who Jesus is to us, but each one is a fulfillment of who He is to mankind. having a personal relationship with Jesus means that every need we have or ever will have can be met through Him and who He is. Just like the disciples as true followers of Christ, we need to want to know not only who He says He is, but experience who He is in our lives.
Do you need to know Jesus better? Do you really know how He lived and functioned with people? If not I encourage you to start, by asking Him to help you read the story His life with fresh eyes. Begin to see things about Him that you have never seen before. The Scriptures give us an upclose and personal view of how He lived among people to give us living examples of how we in turn should live to change the world as He did.
