So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. Zechariah. 4:6
Yesterday we transitioned from our 31 day Revival Challenge to realizing we constantly need revival because this life drains us. As we seek the filling of the Spirit we remember that revival works best when we do this life together with united hearts and minds.. In the world of Rowing or sometimes called Crewing this is referred to as “swing”, where eight rowers become one and they actually lift the shell (boat) out of the water while being propelled forward. Swing is a perfect example of today’s verse that it’s not by might or power. George Pocock the maker of the shell that won the 1936 Olympic Gold for the USA said it very clearly, “What matters more than how hard a man rows is how well everything he does in the boat harmonizes with what the other fellows are doing.”
Notice it’s not in the might or the power, but in the harmony of those who are in the same boat. The world can have times of unity, but true harmony in relationships is only achieved through the Holy Spirit making us one in heart, mind and purpose and yet remain individuals. We all want to see revival so the division, hate and chaos we’re seeing in this world come to an end. But the only way that will happen is for us to allow Holy Spirit to have His way in us. Over the next week we will be looking at how Holy Spirit moves to achieve what I like to call Spiritual Swing as we live this life together.
