“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Matthew 5:14-15
I know some Believers are wondering why we’re not seeing revival since there have been so many calls to unite in prayer for it. As I thought about this Holy Spirit reminded me of when I flew to Florida last year for a Conference. As the plane is leveling out, the Flight Attendants begin to go through safety procedures. The one that seems a bit odd, but is necessary is that when the oxygen mask descends you put it on yourself first, even if someone looks like they need help. This is so you will have the life giving oxygen to get their mask on so they too can breathe and give them first aid if needed.
I believe this is part of the problem why revival seems to be coming so slowly. We’re trying to help this dark and dying world without first realizing how much we need the breath of Holy Spirit to share Him with others. Too often we make it look like serving the Lord is all about us and what we need to do under our own power. We forget to show them the only reason we can walk through this life as a light is by Jesus leading, guiding and directing us through His Holy Spirit. Once we begin to do that the focus will truly be on Jesus, not ourselves.
All of us have been wounded by this world and the enemy has become very proficient at making people believe there is no hope. We need to show others what God can do in a life who allows Him to bring healing and hope in any and every situation. That there can be peace in the midst of the chaos. There can be healing in midst of the pain. There can be provision in the midst of lack. Instead of trying to show people we have it all together, we need to show them our wounds and our scars, and how Jesus heals and helps us go through tough times and come out even better than before. Let’s breathe in deep the love of Jesus and how He changes everything in our lives, so we can teach others how to breathe in His life giving Spirit.
