On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. Acts 8:1
Last night at Bible Study we mourned and talked through the senseless murder of Charlie Kirk. We were studying Acts Chapter 8 and the first verse summed up what is happening. Charlie was killed today because the church is under persecution world wide and that includes those in the United States who stand up for the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
But just like in Acts 8, persecution always makes the church grow and the type of persecution we witnessed today is another example of the enemy overplaying his hand. Once again, him and his henchmen believe that by taking out a person who speaks truth to the young people, not only of this nation but the world, the message he spoke would be silenced. But in the words of the Japanese Admiral Yamamoto, “I fear all we have done is awoken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve”. And in the end his words were accurate. So to I believe his death will be like lighter fluid on an already lit fires of revival. This intended tragedy will accomplish the exact opposite end result.
Beloved of God we need to pray for this young family whose husband and father was taken and for his extended family. May God be such a comfort and strength to them in the days ahead. That as they see spiritual revival and awakening burn through this nation they will know his passing was not in vain. Let’s also pray for ourselves that we would prepare for us to help disciple, love and guide those that are coming into a relationship with Jesus and grow in His grace and Word. Let’s not let this opportunity to continue Charlie’s legacy to spread the Gospel.
Let us also remember the resolve 9/11 brought to this Nation and how it united us and we still remember and honor those who passed from this world that day. Somehow tragedy always brings about a greater good when we give our sorrow over to the Lord.
