“From here on, worshiping the Father will not be a matter of the right place but with the right heart. For God is a Spirit, and he longs to have sincere worshipers who worship and adore him in the realm of the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 TPT
We talk a lot about worship, we even call the time we meet together at a church building a “worship” service. But what really is worship? The Greek word for worship proskyneo- to kiss, adoration and awe. So then, do we truly worship? Do we have enough of a close relationship with Jesus to kiss Him in adoration and awe? Or do we think singing a few “worship” songs and listening to a sermon is worshiping?
Perhaps the problem is we don’t let the Spirit do His work in us to truly worship from out hearts. Allowing ourselves to be open to the moving of Holy Spirit means we will be worshiping from the heart. Our hearts are the seat of our spirits and the home of Holy Spirit. Like Jesus when He walked this earth and said He and the Father were One, so it is with Holy Spirit. This week I challenge you to allow yourself to focus on Jesus and then ask Holy Spirit to stir your heart by thanking Jesus for who He is, what He has done for us and remembering blessings. Then begin to praise Him for how and ways He shows Himself and then open yourself up to be ushered into His presence and rest. You will want to do it more and more, because it’s where are hearts long to be, in His presence. Try it, you will like it!
