“Rejoice greatly, O my people! Shout with joy! For look—your King is coming! He is the Righteous One, the Victor! Yet he is lowly, riding on a donkey’s colt! Zechariah 9:9 TLB
Yesterday we celebrated Palm Sunday, the day that would begin a week that would change the world forever. Jesus made His first statement without even speaking a word when He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. A King riding into a city on a white horse meant he was conquering and overtaking it. But if the King rode in on a donkey, it meant he was coming in peace.
Although people were hailing Him as their long awaited Messiah and King who they thought would overthrow the Roman Government; His message was loud a clear, that He was coming in peace. During this week Jesus was preparing Himself and His followers for His death and resurrection although many didn’t understand.
It seems that today, many don’t truly understand that Jesus came to earth to do more than just to make a way for people to get into heaven. He came to live like us, so He could show us how to live beyond following rules, regulations and rituals. He came to show us how to have a relationship with both God and one another, that would transform us and change the world. As followers of Jesus Christ, we can live a life that brings hope and light to this chaotic world.
