So he is able to save fully from now throughout eternity, everyone who comes to God through him, because he lives to pray continually for them. Hebrews 7:25 TPT
Yesterday’s sermon was about Jesus not only being the example of the necessity of prayer, but also when and what to pray. Scripture reveals to us that Jesus prayed before He went out to preach, teach and minister. How uch more effective +could we be to those we meet if we prayed before we’d go out into society. He prayed when He needed to make big decisions like when He chose 12 out of the many disciples who were following Him. He prayed when He needed provision which He showed by giving thanks for what God was about to do by multiplying the loaves and fish to feed the 5000+ and 4000+ people and had leftovers and everyone eating their fill. Not to mention how He gave thanks to His Father, before He raised Lazarus from the dead. He prayed for children, and when He was under pressure and being rejected and betrayed. He even prayed for us in John 17.
But what truly touches my heart, gives me hope and peace is that He is sitting at the right hand of our Father to intercede for us. The fact that He knows how we feel because He felt it too when He lived on earth, makes be believe that He is more than able to pray for us. It also tells me that He can pray for us even when we can’t pray for ourselves because He knows exactly how we’re feeling! In Romans 8:27 it explains how and why Holy Spirit can pray for us even though we’re so overwhelmed with whatever is going on in our lives, He can put words to the groans or our hearts. How awesome is our God that He would make a way for us to pray even when we can’t put what we’re feeling into words. If He would go to such lengths to help us pray how much more seriously should we take the privilege of talking with Him.
