I rejoiced with those who said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord.” Psalm 122:1
We had a wonderful discussion at Bible Study about how we have the same Holy Spirit they had in the first church, yet we don’t see the same passion, joy and peace they experienced. As we went around the room, we began to see that most Believers are distracted by the things of this world and lean on them rather than focusing on and trusting in Jesus.
And it led to all of us confessing that we just don’t spend enough time in the Lord’s presence and prepare ourselves to meet with Him for Sunday worship. We all realized that we need to seek Holy Spirit to find out what are the hindrances and where our weaknesses are so that we can give them to God and in our weakness we would see Him be made strong. And that when we meet for worship on Sunday we were going to choose to focus on Jesus and nothing else.
I kept playing that discussion over in my mind and kept thinking of the song by Phil Wickham Friday’s Good But Sunday’s Coming. So if you’re like people in our bible Study, this week let’s begin to prepare ourselves for meeting together on Sunday beginning at 6 PM. Let’s take this time to read Scripture, think about Jesus and what it cost Him for us to be able to meet together. Sing songs, and start seeing Him all around us and in everything. So by the time we get to church Sunday morning we have so prepared out hearts and minds to receive all that Jesus died for us to have. And may it just be the beginning of many more weekends to come.
