Give thanks to God no matter what circumstances you find yourself in. (This is God’s will for all of you in Jesus the Anointed.) 1 Thessalonians 5:18
We are so clueless sometimes we don’t even see we are. The other day as the weather forecast was being given Holy Spirit asked me, “what are you hearing and seeing.” And it made me stop and truly listen. That day a gorgeous day, sunshine, warmth with a nice breeze was predicted. A great day to be out and about. But now, the next two days weren’t looking too good. As a matter of fact you would think we should all be depressed because of what was coming. What was it? Rain, gray skies and chilly temperatures.
Why such a foreboding? Well, because this beautiful day was going to lead to a not so beautiful day. It would be a Friday the beginning of a weekend when we all look forward to lovely weather. And not only a weekend, but a special weekend, Mother’s Day. How dare the weather rain on our parade!
Now I want you to think about it. What if we were in the middle of a drought in a heatwave and it wasn’t a “special” weekend. Would we still see the rain as foreboding? No, we would welcome the rain, the refreshing cool it would bring and it would be a time we could just relax. It’s just a matter of perspective. Same forecast, different outlook, different response to it.
It made me think, we respond to other things in life the same way. Perhaps we should think more about perceiving everything with a thankful and grateful attitude no matter what the circumstances. Paul reminded us to be thankful IN all things, because God wil use even the not so great and bad things and create something beautiful in our lives. So next time you get a not so great “forecast” see it from God’s perspective, that He will use to make your life even better.
