I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave. Rev. 1:18
Yesterday we celebrated Resurrection Sunday, a day that shifted everything in heaven, earth and beneath the earth. When Adam and Eve chose to listen to Satan and follow him, they gave up the life giving dominion over everything that God had given them. And so they gave up the tree of life for the tree of knowlege of good and evil, and death and destruction entered the world.
Death was never a part of God’s plan, but because He gave us free will. And in the words of the knight in the Indiana Jones movie the Last Crusade, they “chose poorly”. Death and destruction entered the world through sin, which is a small word that means missing the mark, falling short of, to miss the target; to not have a share in. They severed the life giving connection between them and God and everything began to die in every way. But God had a plan of redemption.
That plan was that His Son Jesus would come to earth as a baby, live a sinless life of example to show us the Father’s heart. Jesus didn’t come to make bad people good, but to restore life by dying and rising again by taking back the keys to death and the grave. He took back the dominion that was lost in the Garden to give to anyone who is willing to accept His perfect sacrifice and forgiveness and follow Him. One wise choice of choosing to place your trust in Jesus our Redeemer will restore to you all the devil stole. You will have the resurrection power over the enemy and it’s influence that is trying to destroy your life. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Every day we need to celebrate Easter and all it accomplished, but take it one step further and daily live by the power of His resurrection and change the world by showing others what that power can do in the life of one who embraces it. Will you be an example of the resurrection power and lead others out of the darkness and into the light? If so, then Easter Monday is the best place to start.
