Thursday April 17 Introducing the New Covenant
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it. “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them. Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” Mark 14:22-25
This night began with a beautiful Passover meal with His disciples and became even more intimate when Jesus washed His disciples feet and introduced them to what would be the New Covenant that would be forged between Him and Father God with His blood. And He did all this after Judas had betrayed Him.
It was also the night they walked in the Garden of Gethsemane together then He prayed for all His disciples even us even though we weren’t even born yet. He then went to be alone and agonized in prayer, while three of His disciples were supposed to be praying with Him, but were sleeping. Then He was arrested and taken away to face an illegal trial. Before the Sanhedrin.
