When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees. Genesis 3:8
Yesterday as the sun was setting and casting shadows welcoming us to slow down, Lester, my dog and I went for out for our evening walk. It was so different from the evenings in the week before. There was no humidity in the air and a refreshing soft breeze was blowing and all I could do was just raise my eyes upward and say thank you to Abba for such a beautiful evening.
As we walked today’s verse came to mind and I thought about the relationship Adam and Eve must have had with God before the fall. He must have met with them before because they knew what His presence sounded and felt like. Imagine, He was walking about in the garden, so they not only heard and felt Him, but they saw Him, they walked with Him just like the people walked with Jesus when He was here on earth.
It might sound strange, but just thinking about that, it was almost like He was walking with me through the field, and with each step I felt a bit lighter, and calmer an inner peace that no matter how it seemed everything was going to work out in ways I never imagined. I didn’t want it to end. As we went back into the house, I felt refreshed and renewed. We can’t always walk in the cool evening breeze, but we can always be assured we are in His presence and He is always waiting for us to talk with Him and be refreshed in soul and spirit. We can enjoy this intimacy with Him because Jesus made it possible by reconciling us back to our Father who is always waiting for us to make time to be with Him. After all we have no reason to hide.
