You are like that illuminating light. Let your light shine everywhere you go, that you may illumine creation, so men and women everywhere may see your good actions, may see creation at its fullest, may see your devotion to Me, and may turn and praise your Father in heaven because of it. Matthew 5:16 AMP
With the way the world is going lately, living out this verse keeps getting easier to accomplish. We all know that light becomes more noticeable and effective in carrying out its purpose in the darkness. Shinning our light can be as simple as being polite in saying please and thank you. Telling someone you like their shoes, clothes or hair. Maybe you see someone who looks like they just need to see a smile, so you give them one of yours.
We can also make a decision to look for someone who might need our help. They may need transportation, an Senior Citizen might need help with their yard work or cleaning. A mom with little ones might need a day just to go grocery shopping alone. Believe me, I’ve heard some moms say it’s like a spa day! We could help someone pay a bill. Or perhaps help someone find a job who just lost one.
Now doing all these things are good and nice, but what makes them different is because they are done with asking or expecting anything in return. But just because we’re loving others as Jesus has loved us. In this jaded world where it seems every one has a self-serving motive, there is no better way to show the love and grace of Him.
