Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord.
Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. Psalm 5:3
When was the last time you asked God to listen to your voice? We often don’t think about it, but God longs to hear our voice, I believe much more than we desire to hear His. Mainly because we don’t want to take the time to wait to hear His response to our prayers.
Asking God to listen to our voice in and of itself is a prayer before we even present our requests to Him. How it must bless His heart when we think of Him first thing in the morning. And then to speak a “good morning Abba, thank you for watching over me during the night. How are You this morning?” And then just take some time to let Him respond and enjoy His presence. What joy is found in knowing He will not only hear your requests, but also will answer them. Maybe not an immediate answer, but one that will come as we wait with great expectation that at the right time He will answer.
The Hebrew word for wait is qavah, which means to bind to entwine with; hoping with great expectation. As we entwine ourselves with Abba and bind ourselves to Him with Scripture our focus is on our Provider rather than the provision. Then we position ourselves to hear His voice and receive the answers we are in need of. Why don’t you try praying this prayer tomorrow morning before you get out of bed and then rest in Him all day and watch what will happen.
