Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. Daniel 11:32
This verse is from a prophecy of Daniel about the reign of Antiochus Epiphanes and also in reference to the Anti-Christ during the Tribulation. However, no matter when it’s happening it is important that we know God so we can better understand Him and be used for His purpose. So the question needs to be addressed, how well do we really know God? It’s not enough to just know of Him, we need to know Him intimately and cultivate a deep relationship with Him. For when we are rooted deep in Him, then nothing will shake or move us. If there ever was a time we need to be rooted deep in our relationship with Jesus, this is it.
Yesterday we started our new Sermon Series: Moving Towards God. Beginning with the sermon Great Expectations. Today’s passage reminds us that we will be strong and do great things when we truly know God. So why then are so many blood bought Believers never seeing that kind of power and miracles happen? Truth is we don’t know God as well as we think. We base things more on what we hear, think or feel than what the Bible tells us. One of the biggest lies belched from the bowels of Hell is that we face troubles, trials and setbacks, it’s God punishing us and being mad at us. On the contrary all those things will make us spiritually stronger and we will be able to hear God more clearly for direction.
By embracing our troubles and trials and even our mistakes we then allow the Lord to take everything that was meant for evil, will be used to bring about good, not only for us, but that God would be glorified and others would come to know Him as Savior, Lord and best friend. Let’s determine to live our lives so that we can show that Jesus truly has overcome the world!
