Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Now that Thanksgiving is officially over the Advent Season begins tomorrow. Advent is a time for us to prepare our hearts and minds to celebrate the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ over the next 4 weeks. Each Sunday there is a focus given for that week; Hope, Peace, Joy and Love to help remind us what Christmas is truly all about.
Tomorrow Hope will be our thought for the week. Being a Believer is all about hope, Hebrews 11:1 tells us that our faith is the substance of what we hope for and the evidence of what we still don’t see. Hope can be as fragile as a snowflake if we listen more to the things of this world and what we see. It can slowly melt away when we are exposed to the “heat” of lies and deception we hear and the reality of what we see. This world has placed so many limitations on God’s desires for His children. If the enemy can’t have us, he will take from us whatever he can and hinder us in anyway he can.
But hope rises in each of us through the power of Holy Spirit living in us. When we trust more in what we know in God’s Word than what we see around us. When we step into the supernatural believing that with God truly nothing is impossible our hope springs eternal. I know we all hope for the Rapture to happen to break us free from the bonds of this earth. But our hope should be how can we become who God always created us to lead others into a relationship with Him, while we’re waiting. Especially when we remember that the Hebrew word for wait actually means, to cling to, entangle, to entwine with as we exchange our own strength for His immeasurable, unlimited power supply.
This first week of Advent, instead of seeing hope as wishing and maybe it will happen, let’s use God’s definition of waiting with great expectation that something good is going to happen. Hope is such a powerful word that if we let it, will explode in our hearts and mind when we allow Holy Spirit to work in and through us. It will transform us into the people who He always meant for us to be.
