Why is it that he gives us these special abilities to do certain things best? It is that God’s people will be equipped to do better work for him, building up the Church, the body of Christ, to a position of strength and maturity; Ephesians 4:12
Holy Spirit was given to the church so we could be more effective for Jesus in this world after He went back to His Father. Without Him, we would be defenseless and powerless in a world that is always trying to destroy us. And He also works in us in even greater ways, so that we can continue the work Jesus started.
When the church began it started with the disciples being enabled to speak in all the different languages of the people staying in Jerusalem to celebrate Passover to Pentecost. They were hearing about salvation through Jesus in their own tongue and 3000 received Jesus as their Savior and Lord. They also received Holy Spirit and through Him became very effective in leading others into a personal relationship with Jesus.
However, over the years the Corporate Church has lost that effectiveness. Mainly because we became more interested to stay within the walls we created to hold the church body and developing programs for those inside the church. In other words we’ve been fishing in the Aquarium instead of the sea. We need to get back to our roots and learn once again the importance of putting Jesus first and then sharing it with others, so they will want to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord also. In so doing we will once again burn like the first church did and changed the world forever. Are you ready to burn for Jesus?
